The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Brasilia, Brazil in association with Colombo Tea Traders´ Association organized Global Ceylon Tea Party on the 06th July 2017 at the premises of the Embassy. The event was elegantly and attractively decorated with tea posters, brochures, varieties of Sri Lankan tea products and propaganda on a large screen. Over 100 guests including diplomats, trade representatives, hoteliers, tour operators and journalists attended the event.
At the invitation of H.E. General Jagath Jayasuriya, Ambassador Mr. Gustavo Domingues, the General Coordinator of Competitiveness graced the occasion on behalf of the Minister of Agriculture of Brazil, as the Chief Guest. H.E. the Ambassador in his speech elaborated on the origin and history of Ceylon tea, variety of tea products and reputation of Ceylon tea in the global market. In his Speech Mr. Gustavo Domingues representative of the Agriculture Ministry mentioned that trade relations between Brazil and Sri Lanka has demonstrated a very healthy increase over the years and there is encouraging potential for Ceylon Tea in Brazil.
After the speeches, the guests were invited to taste exquisite Ceylon tea with traditional Sri Lankan sweets. The participants were highly appreciative of the rare opportunity to enjoy authentic Sri Lankan tea varieties.
